You can thank a paper mill that made the area undesirable for development until 1999 when it closed. As the area has become more well known, property values have increased by 20% to 40% per year.

In 2002 Dr. Stephen P. Leatherman "Dr. Beach" announced that the local St. Joseph Peninsula State Park ranked NUMBER 1 on his list of America's Top Beaches 2002. See more information about the report at this website.

In May, 2005 Money Magazine declared this area a "smart money" investment and they agreed with us about the "Old Florida" atmosphere.

"The 50-mile gulf coast stretch from Port St. Joe to Carrabelle has about as much in common with Miami or Fort Lauderdale as it does with Paris. There are no glam discos or high-rises -- just lovely beaches and very cheap real estate, at least by Florida standards."
